Executive Leadership Coaching with Dr. Sang Sur

Why coaching?

Because God has created you to be you.

Coaching is for people who dream of doing great things.

There are many ways you can lead your life, but you need to be internally driven to make a meaningful impact in the world. Like many people, you can seek advice from others (parents, friends, counselors, supervisors, etc.) and follow activities as the educational/occupational system stipulates. It may lead you to accomplish tasks and get by in life without fulfilling a greater and meaningful vision.

The coaching paradigm focuses on the ability to draw out your deeper convictions to move you toward fulfilling your greater destiny and being a person of greater value to those around you.

Why do executives need coaching?

God places certain people in strategic and influential places to fulfill great things through them.

Yet, due to the world's influences, even the best-intentioned leaders get sidetracked and become inundated with everyday work, forgetting the greater purpose of being placed there.

As executives, we are responsible for the success of our companies, even if that means going beyond our specializations. Our work spans the ongoing and envisioned activities. It means we have an 'infinite' workload, and forgetting our original purpose and pursuits is easy. Work can become mundane, and our drive may wane. An executive coach helps such leaders keep first things first while succeeding at everything they need to accomplish.

Additionally, since executives must be generalists at times, there may be certain unfamiliar activities they must do. Yet, due to their extensive breadth, executives do not have anyone to talk to about their challenges and check for gaps in their understanding—they just end up running. An experienced executive coach would enable the leaders to see the bigger picture, closing the gap to the unknowns.

The executive coach remains alongside the executives, enabling them to drive from the heart.

Results of Executive Coaching

Executive coaches are sought by individuals who want to do the impossible. These individuals have a drive that will stop at nothing to accomplish what others may not even attempt to start. The problems they seek to solve can't but cause them to hit walls. Yet, they do not back down due to seeming failures but almost often bounce back to try different approaches. By nature, they can't but run alone and are left to cope on their own. Does this sound like you?

Those same people are driven to succeed. With the support of an executive coach with a process and structure to provide an environment to break the 'ceiling,' such leaders can get up faster, develop new approaches faster, and succeed faster.

In my experience, those who secure an executive coach are more open, fun to work with, driven to learn, willing to attempt the 'impossible,' willing to take responsibility, able to see the potential in themselves and others, flexible, positive, and willing to be vulnerable. By working with an executive coach, they go further and do it faster.

In organizations, the culture of coaching is better. The people feel valued when they are welcomed to pursue difficult things with the help of an executive coach. Their loyalty to the organization is improved. There are more rich relationships up, down, and across the organization. There is more outstanding teamwork and improved productivity. High morale is infectious. Motivated employees have a more extraordinary partnership with their managers. Organizations can break through barriers.

How do you know when you need an executive coach?

Your dreams are so big and seemingly impossible to tackle, but you are all about making them happen. Your cost and time are worth at least 10x of your efforts. You do not need a coach if you do not have a significant challenge. Think about this: A coach was originally a mode of transportation. If you can make it down the block by walking, you would not require a coach. You need a coach when ready to go for the long haul and the distance. You may be facing these kinds of situations:

Perhaps you need an executive coach by your side to walk with you through these challenges.

I'm interested in coaching. What are my next steps?

What does Hebrews 11 have to do with Executive Coaching?

Hebrews 11 is about faith.

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. -Hebrews 11:1-2

The world's education teaches us that success comes from our education, experiences, and luck. Yet, true success comes from God. The people of God drive success by remaining in Him through all life's circumstances (John 15:4). The unwavering trust in God is what we call faith. Hebrews 11 lists people who persevered in faith despite many struggles. Will you be part of that list?

Executives have gone through many trials to make it to where they are. As shown through history, the problem is that when people come to positions of power, they turn away from God, rely on their experiences and past successes, and settle. As a result, they fail to accomplish the greater calling that God had planned for them.

Hebrews 11 coaching is for executives whom God called to the marketplace. I will walk with you through the complexities of work, enabling you to keep your priorities and succeed in all your pursuits, even beyond work.

The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way?
Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
1Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. 6And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
